Mariana, I use RO/DI water in my humidifier. You may be seeing hard water dust? Calcium, whatever heavy metals are in your water.

Actually, I bought this on ebay. I have a saltwater fish tank, so I bought this to make clean water for the fish. It turns out I use it for so many things. This RO/DI unit has paid for itself many times over. We use this water for coffee, cooking, drinking water, I've even hooked it up to the ice maker in the fridge.

It keeps me from building up hard water stains in the fish tanks/turtle tank.
