    Help with toilet training PLEASE!!

Hello everyone - sorry if there is already a topic on this. I’m really struggling with toilet training Loki. Instead of pooping in the nice warm water, we get this:

I know a nice warm soak is mean to be relaxing but COME ON! Lol I can keep topping up the water and leave him in for ages and then take him out and within 5 mins he does is business on the rug or tree branch in his home. So it’s not that he doesn’t need to go just that he doesn’t want too!! Although as I was typing this he did have his first poop in the bath!!....he must not like to be watched! Does anyone have any tips? Toilet training my Cali king snake was easier than this stubborn boy!! Ha ha and both my frilly and beardie only had to see bath water and they pooped! Is it just a case of patients with my little man? All tips and opinions was welcome! If it helps he does love a good soak and a swim....should I maybe use a large tray with water in for toilet training to differentiate between the two?

Maybe the water is too deep for him to feel comfortable pooping? My Darwin loves deep water, but he started pooping in the bath when the water was fairly shallow. Might be worth a try.
My name is Stephen, and I have a male green iguana named Darwin (since March 17th, 2016).

When Salem was small he wouldn't poop in the tub either, he would only poop in a plant pot that had his perching tree in it, I think he felt hidden there and it was far away from where he liked to lay. He never pooped anywhere he liked to spend time, maybe your boy just likes the tub and doesn't want to soil it and ruin his spa treatment? It will probably come with age, I'd try what Stephen said. If the water is more shallow it may prompt him to relieve himself

Thank you both :) he did do his business in the bath for the first time today but at the shallow end and only after a good long soak! I think you have both got it spot on.
stephen I will try more shallow water - thank you :) and Moirah Iím thinking Iíll try a toilet tray / tub instead.

hes not shy! His usual place on the tree in his enclosure is the most visible place on the whole enclosure and when he went on the rug it was right in front of the TV....which we were watching at the time! Like he wants me to know itís there so it gets cleaned!

Id much rather him poop in water than cleaning his little vent......although strangly he seems to like it! Ha ha

Gemma, try putting a carpet on the bottom of the bath with Velcro. Perhaps if Loki's legs do not slip, it will be more convenient for him to "concentrate" on the toilet. Sometimes our iguanas were helped when we stroked our hand near the base of the tail. Those. a small massage near an intimate place provoked that the iguanas were making poop. But I think that in the first place it is necessary to make sure that it is not slippery. Usually we need a comfortable pose to accomplish this action.

I think the shallow water will do the trick. Look at it this way: You will waste less water. Because you will need t drain, clean and refill it.
So the first water can be shallow, to prompt pooping, and the second can be as deep as he likes, for pleasure.

I agree on the shallow water. Also the sound of trickling water would help stimulate him.

Taka is right. Sometimes my Juanita sits very long in the tub. So I turn on the hot water with a thin stream. And this can also provoke Juanita to a feat.Name: Да.gif
