took them both outside last Saturday for their bath's...
The severe really 'got into it' as he always does (macaws seem to like water...see my bath video of him)

but poor coco didn't seem to grasp the idea that water misting is a fun, clean thing (even adding in baby talk and encouragement).
I think in his past water might of been used as punishment, we'll have to work on getting past that, doing both of them together I think is showing him it isn't a bad thing.

So we hung out in the sun and the little one climbed around almost everything he could get to, I get the impression he didn't get out much either...

You can see how much he likes it.
I love the way he wiggles his tail and also the head-scratching with the bottle It is just adorable.

I hope Coco unlearns the bad associations and accepts it as fun. What is he doing in that short video?

so looking on wikipedia, I see that he is P. s. senegalus (the nominate subspecies)..do to the yellow vest.
He comes in at (I weighed him last night) at 96 grams...wiki says that's a bit light but the vet said that's normal for a male.

He loves to chew...with a single mindedness the macaw would have a hard time keeping up with.
And an almost vecro-like want to be on me, to be cuddled and scratched.
His sounds range is bizarre, from microwave dings to telephone rings and this whispered 'hello' when he's close.

He's pinched me a couple of time, mostly excitement and rush to get in and chow down (seeds first, then 'other', but he is eating pellets, veggies, fruits, etc).

Although, he still gets so excited he tries to masturbate on my hand, I discourage that and with out making a fuss, I put him back on the T- stand to calm down. The Macaw just watches all this with a air of such a thing is beneath his dignity.

I have to ask all those senegal people out there...
IS THE WOOD CHEWING NORMAL? OR JUST A BREEDING PERIOD PHASE?
The macaw goes into chew mode as breeding season comes near but passes as the hormone levels go back to normal.
but so far Coco has tooth-picked every perch in his cage, all the toys and tries to go after anything with an edge he can get a beak around...

I pick him up,(he growls), I say 'bad wood' put him back on either his cage or stand, hand him a proper wood toy saying 'good wood' and let him chew that....

but sheeeeeez, what a buzz saw!

Normal for male Senegal ? (oh, he's 176grams btw)

I'm not a great connoisseur of parrots, but judging by the parrots of my parents, these birds are very different if you compare different species. And even parrots of one kind have their own individuality.

We have not seen your pets for a long time. There are new photos and videos?
