    Question Vet Costs

I have an Iguana named Firnen. There is nothing wrong with him (other than a missing tail, but that has been growing back fairly well as far as I can tell) but I have been wondering for quite a while how much a vet trip would cost for him in case anything went wrong? Is it the same cost as it would be for a dog or a cat, or is it more expensive since he is an exotic pet?

In each country, and even in each city, the cost of veterinarians is individual. I hope you don’t need vet help. At least in the near future. One of the key to iguana health is the right terrarium and diet. You can find useful information in our care sheets. http://reptile-parrots.com/forums/fo...65-Iguana-Care

It will be more expensive and you should research ahead of time to find a vet that actually is a reptile vet. It is important to find a vet qualified to treat them. It is good to start a savings for an emergency so it is not overwhelming if something happens. Use a jar and add money every time you can.

Ann is right. No one is immune from emergencies. Find a good vet in advance.

I think the cost for reptile vet depends on the area you live etc.

Here is what I pay for my Charby's wellness check-up. I bring him in every year & get fecal exam ( my vet can do in-house fecal exam so it's cheaper since they don't have to send the sample to the other place ).

    Welness Exam/Consultations --- $52

    Fecal Lab Test ( In-House ) --- $55

Really not bad but your area might have different prices. If your iguana has existing health issues there is insurance you can have for him.

I recommend this link to find certified herp vet near you.

Oh! Thank you, that is very helpful!
I am an avid gamer, or at least I'd like to think I am, and I have a green iguana named Firnen. I prefer to be referred to as Saleen. I believe there are no bad pets, just bad owners.
